Kilkenny Design Centre
The Foodhall at Kilkenny Design Centre has become a popular spot for coffees, teas or a light lunch. It offers a selection of our most popular restaurant dishes such as Fruity Chicken Curry and Duncannon Seafood Pie to take home and enjoy the delights of Kilkenny Design Centre from home. Each day the Foodhall offers guests a choice of delicious homemade food from Goats Cheese & Spinach Focaccia to the traditional Toasted Special, the choice is yours. Our most recent addition to the Foodhall is Afternoon Tea served on a purpose made stand from a local Ceramic Craftsman with a range of tasty treats served to you including fluffy homemade scones with homemade jam and fresh cream.
Rothe House & Garden
Rothe House & Garden is the only example of an early 17th century merchant’s townhouse in Ireland. Built between 1594 and 1610, Rothe House is steeped in rich local and national history and a visit is high on the list of things to do in Kilkenny. It is a centre for Irish genealogy where you can research your Kilkenny family history.
The Smithwick’s Experience
The Smithwicks Experience is one of Kilkenny’s newest attractions and last year was listed among the top 26 new attractions in the world to visit by The Lonely Planet. It takes visitors on a journey through over 300 years of history behind Ireland’s most popular ale, many people don’t know that Smithwicks is actually nearly 50 years older than Guinness! All tours are fully guided and the tour is open all year round. The tour includes a complimentary pint of Smithwicks for visitors over 18. Families are also welcome and under 18s get a soft drink at the end of the tour.
